      <image:title>RAAS Reports - RAAS Report - Our beautiful campus will have a new outdoor space created with Indigenous significance this fall.  It will be used for First Nations, Métis, and Inuit events, classes and celebrations and it will be ready for students, staff, and faculty this fall.  The circular layout represents a forest, with a roof design that allows wind to move freely throughout the structure.   The space will undoubtedly have an impact on the community and acknowledge the Indigenous presence on U of W campus and its historical significance. Read more about it here.</image:title>

      <image:caption>On February 12th, we toasted 5 strong years as Canada’s newest Faculty Association. We all have a great deal to celebrate! Since we first formed, we built up our Association policies and procedures, certified as a union, and negotiated our first collective agreement. Our union has successfully advocated for individuals among us, helped to protect DTLs jobs under threat of discontinuation, and negotiated and defended accommodations for those who have needed them to keep themselves and their families safe in the context of COVID-19. Together, we have weathered unprecedented challenges caused by COVID-19 and we are growing in strength and capacity, as a community, as more and more members take on roles on various committees and initiatives, and in external bodies like FAUW, CAUT and OCUFA. We have become an active participant in the effort to strengthen higher learning not just at our own institution, but across our province and country. Happy Birthday, RAAS, and let’s celebrate our achievements and look ahead to the many successes that lie ahead!!</image:caption>

This week, we learned about conflict and the work of creating more equitable spaces. We were introduced to the “Developmental Wheel of Conflict”, as developed by our teachers, Zea Leguizamon and Dr Sam Grant. Here, we see the movement through conflict towards change, the roles and responses that can characterize the different stages of change, with the goal of reaching a place where change becomes fully realized and incorporated, alongside the anticipated yield &amp; grab, push &amp; pull tensions that come with change.
